MORE OPPORTUNITY. A BRIGHTER TOMORROW.
Why scholarship opportunity matters.
The Great Plains Opportunity Education Fund is a scholarship granting organization focused on helping individual donors support educational opportunity. Potential qualifying services include tutoring, afterschool, and summer programs, subject to federal and state rules.
OUR PURPOSE
A new way to support students and families.
South Dakota has elected to participate in the new federal scholarship tax credit program for 2027. The program creates a potential path for eligible individual donors to support scholarships for qualifying educational services through listed scholarship granting organizations.
We are focused on helping individual donors support eligible educational services such as tutoring, afterschool, summer programs, and other learning opportunities. An Afterschool Alliance brief highlights afterschool and summer learning as a potential funding area, while federal rules determine what qualifies. We aim to provide useful information without promising outcomes the rules have not confirmed.
Individual donors may designate a school district or program, but not individual participants; the SGO determines scholarship recipients under program rules. Our focus is helping people understand the scholarship-giving opportunity and make informed decisions as program details develop, with eligible educational services at the center of our work.
